U.S. Senator Susan Collins, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, announced recently that the U.S. Navy has committed to sending the USS Anzio (CG-68) to pay a port visit to the Town of Boothbay Harbor during the 46th annual Windjammer Days Festival, to be held June 23-26. Senator Collins wrote to the Navy requesting the visit.

"I am pleased that the Navy has agreed to honor our state with this port visit during the popular Windjammer Days Festival in Boothbay Harbor," said Senator Collins. "I am delighted that the Navy has committed to sending the USS Anzio. This visit is a wonderful opportunity for all us to honor the brave men and women of the U.S. Navy."

The USS Anzio is a Ticonderoga class guided missile destroyer, launched on November 2, 1990. The Anzio is home-ported at the Norfolk Naval Station in Norfolk, Virginia and took part in Operation Enduring Freedom.

"We look forward to welcoming the USS Anzio to the region for their port visit during Windjammer Days, which is June 24 and 25 this year. Having the U.S. Navy represented during our maritime event always adds to the already lively nature of our family festival," says Navy liaison Susan Clough.
