Gardiner Savings Purchases The ``Small Mall''
Staff
On June 11, Gardiner Savings Institution purchased the Harbor Village Plaza at the corner of Routes 27 and 96 in Boothbay Harbor. The seller is listed as the S.R.P. Revocable Trust. The one-level shopping center across from Shop 'n Save is often referred to locally as the ``Small Mall.''
``We've been very pleased with the success enjoyed by our branches in the midcoast region,'' said bank president Arthur C. Markos. ``We view this purchase as an excellent investment and anticipate having a branch presence in the Boothbay region in the future.''
Gardiner Savings has branches in Wiscasset, Bath, Brunswick and Topsham. The main office is in Gardiner, with other branches located in Richmond, Randolph, Augusta, Hallowell, Manchester, Winthrop and Waterville.
``We've considered many options for locating in the Boothbay region,'' added Mr. Markos, ``and we think this is the place to be when the time is right for us to have a presence in the community.''
There are no plans to make changes in the plaza at this time, but Markos said the bank will be reviewing options in the near future. |
