Letters To Editor Over-Reaction To Dump Problems?
A State of Maine Department of Labor Standards' form dated June 14 describes a ``Hazard Which Requires Within 24 Hours Abatement,'' and is written by Maurice R. Nadeau, Occupational Safety Engineer.
The description of hazard is: ``Being struck by projectile from tub grinder. All personnel must be kept out of caution zone unless protected as described in the manual of operation.''
I would add that nothing of additional importance is written on the above mentioned form.
My questions are, why must we taxpayers be kept from bringing metal to the metal pile, and construction material to its pile when the machinery is not running? Do I sense an over-reaction?
The dump was closed, and grinding was already limited to Wednesday. This was also done with almost no notice or taxpayer input. Is the policy of the district's manager and directors, along with the state, over-reaction? Letters To Editor Found Our Little Pet
Just wanted to make aware everyone at the newspaper and anyone in Boothbay who helped in finding our little buddy, our pet ferret Jolie. The finder called me yesterday at work and we are going to pick her up today.
Great thanks to Matthew Barrett, the owner of the Flagship Motor Inn. He found the kindness in his heart to compile all the names of customers who stayed at the Flagship over Memorial Day weekend and sent them a letter I forwarded to him. The finder responded in a couple of days following. My girlfriend is ecstatic, which makes me the same. The little guy is practically a family member.
Thanks again to everyone and I appreciate what a terrific community you have. Michael Bajda, Shelton, Connecticut |
