Channel 5 is your local cable channel. We try to provide for your viewing as many of the current events that we can. In the past couple of months, we have been busy filming the Fishermen's Festival, lectures at the library, the Boothbay Alumni Band's Spring Concert, a dance recital and the entire Boothbay Region High School graduation ceremonies.

All filming, editing and programming is done entirely by volunteers. In addition, we will list your current events. Forms to do this are available at the Y. Simply fill one out and we will air the date, time, type of function and any other pertinent information. This is a service that is provided at no charge.

Some of upcoming events we will be filming are the Windjammer Days Parade, the Alumni Band Concert and the Windjammers coming in under full sail. Also the golf tournament and possibly the sports auction which will take place this weekend.

We plan to continue taping informative lectures held in our area. The next one will be held at the Department of Marine Resources. A short documentary on the Boothbay Region Ambulance Service, including what happens when you need their service and have to make that trip to the hospital, will also be aired this month.

Plans are also being made to film the summer basketball games.

We welcome your comments regarding our programming. Please feel free to contact any members of the board. And of course, we can always use an extra pair of hands. If you would like to become involved with Channel 5, please contact Jim Rollins at 633-3481 for information regarding the date and time of our next meeting.
